Castres France 2007 (81)
In 2005 I met the gypsy community of Castres. Going to see them, I thought to find the folklore of Django's guitar, because there are kids out there Reinhardt!
A few miles from my home, I went for the first time in this camp. The meetings that I have made have made me aware of the living conditions of Travellers in France. No health, problems of garbage, rats, an alarming state of health ... in general indifference. The cliché of Gypsy folk had to be crushed by reality. No, gypsies do not play all the music!
Their living conditions were no longer acceptable, the Besson Law was passed and no land was built to standards. After a day of wrath and burned a few tires, the City Council has manifested itself. A year later, a reception area was born, hygiene was again finally correct but many problems remain.
By working with the Social Coordinator Myriam Hernandez and Kader Doulat I discovered social workers. It takes courage to implement innovative actions, and face many obstacles.
